One of the biggest clashes of 2022 has been averted. Alia Bhatt's Gangubai Kathiawadi was to battle with her pan-India film RRR in January 2022. However, now, the makers of Gangubai Kathiawadi decided to postpone the release date.
In a statement, the makers of Gangubai Kathiawadi informed that the biopic directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali will now release on February 18, 2022, instead of January 6, 2022. The statement read, "We are glad to announce that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kathiawadi has a new release date. Produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Dr Jayantilal Gada (Pen Studios), the film will release on 18th February, 2022."

Alia plays the titular role of Gangubai Kathiawadi, a brothel madam from the red light area, Kamathipura, who was reportedly pushed into prostitution at a very young age and became the most influential pimp. The actress will be seen playing the role of Ram Charan's wife Sita in SS Rajamouli's pre-Independence film RRR, which is scheduled to release on January 7 next year.
The teaser of Gangubai Kathiawadi was released on Sanjay's birthday that is February 24. The film also stars Ajay Devgn.
