A day ago, Shibasish Sarkar, CEO, Reliance Entertainment, co-producer of Sooryavanshi told a leading daily that the actioner has been pushed forward to 2021. Now, while the makers are yet to confirm the official release date of the Akshay Kumar-Katrina Kaif's film, rumour has it that the film will hit the theatres on Republic Day 2021 weekend. A source close to the development told an entertainment portal that Akshay, director Rohit Shetty and the production house are tentatively planning a January 26 release for Sooryavanshi. 

"No one can promise a release date at this point of time, but Reliance, Rohit Shetty and Akshay Kumar are tentatively eyeing the Republic Day weekend now for Sooryavanshi. While there were initial chatters of Sooryavanshi on Christmas and 83 on Republic Day, it was eventually decided that if a theatrical release is possible in December, it’s best to not move the release date of 83 once again," the source told.

Shibasish, in his statement, mentioned that Ranveer Singh's '83 will stick to its Christmas release while Sooryavanshi will be postponed. Now, according to the source, the makers are now working out the schedule of Sooryavanshi in sucha a way that both the films are benefitted. "The idea is to take a decision that is in the best interest of both the films, and the current target is to release both of them before March next year. Though the window to release Sooryavanshi is between January and March but if 83 releases and fairs as well as expected on Christmas, 26 January is confirmed preposition for Sooryavanshi. With cinema halls reopening, the dates are more locked for both the films now, until and unless we have some bad surprises in stores in terms of the covid 19 scenario to ruin all plans," the source added. 

Sooryavanshi was initially scheduled to release on March 24. However, due to the lockdown, the film is pushed ahead. The Rohit Shetty directorial also stars Katrina Kaif in the lead while Ranveer and Ajay Devgn are in cameos. It is the fourth film in Rohit's cop universe.
