'The struggle is to get back into shape,' says Kriti Sanon on losing the extra kilos gained for Laxman Utekar's surrogacy drama 'Mimi'

Kriti Sanon, with projects like Bareilly Ki BarfiLuka Chuppi and several others, has managed to win the hearts of the audience and critics alike. A favourite of top directors and producers, thanks to her immense talent, we as audience and cinema lovers, are getting to watch some impeccable acting and meet strong characters. Now, with yet another film, Kriti is set to narrate an emotional tale of surrogacy in Mimi. For the film, the svelte actress gained a whopping 15 kilos. Kriti will be seen in the role of an aspiring actress who ends up becoming a surrogate mother. Talking to a leading daily about losing the extra weight, the 29-year-old told that she is blessed with good metabolism which will help in her shedding the kilos. She further added that as she is satiated with smaller meal portions, there were days when she had to stuff herself. 

“I didn’t think I would be able to do this because I have always been skinny. In fact, I can eat everything, from pizza to pasta and dal makhani because I’m blessed with good metabolism. I hope I haven’t lost that because of this film. There were days when I had to eat even when I was stuffed. So, when I see the difference all that effort made to my character on screen, I feel satisfied today,” Kriti told.

As per the report of the leading daily, Kriti first shot for portions wherein she was required to look heavier. Adding further during the interview, the Panipat actress said that the struggle to get back into shape can be tedious. “Now, the struggle is to get back into shape and have a great body again. Knocking off extra calories can be pretty tedious. I hadn’t even worked out for the past few months, so even my mobility was down,” Kriti added. 

Mimi tells the tale of surrogacy and is based on the Marathi film Mala Aai Vhhaychy starring Urmila Kanitkar in the lead role. Apart from Kriti, Mimi stars Pankaj Tripathi in the lead role. Speaking of Mala Aai Vhhaychy, the film was released on February 11, 2011, and went on to win the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi. It was written, directed and produced by Samruoddhi Porey, a practicing lawyer in Bombay High Court. The release date of Mimi is yet to be confirmed.
