'Firsts are always special,' gushes Karan Johar as his directorial debut 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' clocks 21 years

Karan Johar, with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, made a remarkable entry into the world of cinema. However, the filmmaker, since then has given us some amazing films to treasure but Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji has a special place in ever cine lover's heart. And as time passed by so quickly, the romantic drama clocked 21 years since release on Wednesday. Recalling the shoot days, Karan, on Instagram, called Kuch Kuch Hota Hai a special one and said right from cast to the heart and soul of the film is in the right place. He further thanked everyone for making the journey a timeless one.

"Firsts are always special! The cast, crew, music & the heart & soul of this film was all in the right place Thank you for making this journey a timeless one even after 21yrs!," Karan wrote while sharing a poster of the film.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai revolved around Rahul (Shah Rukh), Anjali (Kajol) and Tina(Rani). Anjali, who is Rahul's college bestie, falls in love with him, but he has his heart somewhere else. Mesmerised by Tina, Rahul grows fond of her and they eventually get married. But, unfortunately, years later, Tina succumbs to pregnancy complications after delivering her first child, also named Anjali, who then plays the role of matchmaker between her father and senior Anjali. Sana Saeed was seen as junior Anjali while Salman Khan appeared in a cameo as Kajol's fiance in the second half of the film. The film released on October 16, 1998, and went on to bag major awards back then.
