'Aarav Bhatia is like my science teacher and it is a different learning experience with him,' reveals Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar, with films like PadMan, has established a niche of socially relevant and content-oriented films. Now, with Mission Mangal, India's first film on Mangalyaan that was launched in 2013, Akshay is all set to give us a fine lesson on science and its power. The actor, through Mission Mangal, aims to educate children and youth about the growth of science and technology, but in the form of edutainment. In the film, Akshay plays the role of Rakesh Dhawan, a scientist and mission director. And while he is happy to don such a character for the first time, he revealed that in reality, his son Aarav Bhatia is his 'science teacher'.

During an interview with a leading daily, when the actor was asked whether he discusses science and technology with Aarav, he revealed that his 16-year old son knows more about this subject. He added that is is a different learning experience with Aarav and called him his science teacher. "We don't discuss, he tells me things. It's a different learning experience. My son is like my science teacher," Akshay told.

Speaking about his tryst with scientific experiments, Akshay recalled an incident when his father gifted him a transistor, which he ended up breaking, considering it to be an experiment. "He paid Rs 175 for a shiny red transistor. I was five years old and having a radio was a big thing at the time. I would listen to songs on it. A few days later, I showed him a black circular object that I had discovered. It would stick when I threw it at the cupboard. He said, 'That's a magnet. Where did you get it?' I told him that I had taken it out of the radio," Akshay added.

Mission Mangal orbits around the journey of the team led by Akshay to achieve a seemingly impossible task of reaching Mars in India’s maiden attempt, establishing India as the only country in the world to set this record. It is financed by R Balki and Akshay and marks the directorial debut of Jagan Shakti. Apart from Akshay, the film stars Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari and Sharman Joshi. Presented by Fox Star Studios, Produced by Cape of Good Films, Hope Productions and Fox Star Studios, Mission Mangal releases on August 15, 2019.
