'It was strange,' reveals Rana Daggubati on Kabir Singh earning most money from paid previews in Hyderabad

Shahid Kapoor's and Kiara Advani's film Kabir Singh proved to be a game changer at the box office. The film, though earned  239.97 cr and counting till its third Monday, invited an equal amount of criticism for its dark content too. Not just in Northern and Western India, Kabir Singh performed extremely well in the Southern belt despite being a remake of the Telegu film Arjun Reddy. Speaking about the same, Rana Daggubati, a superstar down South opened about the performance of the film directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Giving insights into it, Rana, during an interview with an entertainment portal told the film earned maximum collection from previews in Hyderabad. The Dum Maaro Dum actor said previews tickets for Kabir Singh were highest of all which is rare in case of a remake.

"Earlier, one didn't hear of what's happening here in South cinema and now due to remakes, it is all one. A friend of mine told me some interesting information - that when the opening day figures of Kabir Singh had come out, the night before, for the previews, the highest previews were sold in Hyderabad. I was like this is very strange. The city that has watched this film Arjun Reddy, the Telugu original that Kabir Singh is a remake of, had to watch this first. That's something very interesting. That's like The Jungle Book effect, you know who the Lion King is, but you still want to watch it to experience it. But this is what good stories do and hold for you to come back again," Rana told during the interview.

Recently, during an interview with the same portal, the director Sandeep found himself into a grave controversy where his statement saying," If you don't have that physical demonstration, if you don't have the liberty of slapping each other, then I don't see anything there," made it difficult for the audience to swallow. Soon after, Sandeep clarified the real intention behind making a statement of such nature.

Speaking of Kabir Singh, the film narrates the story of a hot-headed surgeon who comes under the influence of substance abuse after his girlfriend Preeti gets married to some other man due to family differences.
