Varun Dhawan all set to turn producer with his upcoming film Coolie No 1

Varun Dhawan made his starry debut in Karan Johar’s directorial Student of the Year in 2012 and since then there is no stopping the actor. With his every release he has established himself and now he is one of the youngest superstars of the country. Varun has proved his mettle with every film of his, and now he is all set to turn producer with his upcoming film Coolie No 1.

In an interview to a daily, Varun revealed his plans of venturing into production soon. He told the daily, “I will turn producer but I will never behave like a producer on sets. I am an actor and I will always keep that thing in mind. Whenever I do a film with my brother or dad, I am hands-on.” Varun is fully involved with every aspect of his film Coolie No 1 as it is his own production.

Talking about the film, he said, “Coolie No 1 is from my own production house so I am involved thoroughly with the film. Karan Johar has taught us that we have to be involved in every facet and he says we are responsible for everything. I have learnt a lot from Karan.” Coolie No 1, is the official adaptation of Govinda's and Karisma Kapoor's 1995 hit that was directed by Varun's father David Dhawan. 

He further added, “I want my films to make money. If somebody is investing in me so it becomes my duty that they don't lose money. As a bankable actor who is taking money, I think it is my responsibility to return that money. I don't like to waste anyone's money by making unrealistic demands.”  Varun is one of the few stars who has never had a flop in his seven-year-long career and does not believe in wasting his producers’ money.

Varun is one of the new crop of young actors who have taken the road to production. Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Deepika Padukone and now Alia Bhatt have all turned producers.
