URI: The Surgical Strike torrent: This is how the makers are striking down piracy and illegal downloads

This will happen if you download the film online

Vicky Kaushal’s and Yami Gautam’s URI: The Surgical Strike is doing a swell business at the box office. The film that is based on the surgical strikes that were carried out in 2016 in Pakistan dominated Kashmir has been reaping accolades from the audience as well as the critics. However, there are quite a few people who want to take the easy route and don’t want to shell out money on film tickets and instead have been looking for torrents of Uri online. And in a way, they were lucky to find one such torrent too.

The team of URI: The Surgical Strike have been burning the midnight oil in keeping the prints of the film from leaking out to illegal torrent websites. However, they also could not cover all tracks and have finally embarked on a novel idea of uploading the torrents themselves. Some users found copies of the film on illegal sites and proceeded to download them thinking that now they will be able to watch the film free of cost and from the comforts of their homes.

However after downloading close to 4GB of the film they didn’t get the two-and-a-half-hour film but instead got the following video. The video starts off as the film and delves into the opening scene where the actors are discussing a surgical strike. However, the cat comes out of the bag when they turn to face the camera and rebuke the person downloading the torrent. Yami Gautam says, “Surgical strikes 0400 hours pe start hogi. Unki army ko pata bhi nahin chalega ki kya hua.” After this, Vicky says, “Theek usi tarah, jaise iss waqt hum aapke screen mein ghus gaye hain. Aur aapko pata bhi nahin chala”

Now, isn’t this a great way to promote the film as well as ensure that the film does not leak online and stop piracy. Hats off to Aditya Dhar and his team for making a great film as well as come up with such great marketing tactics. URI: The Surgical Strike also stars Paresh Rawal, Mohit Raina and Kirti Kulhari.
