Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan are all set for the release of their upcoming film Simmba that will release on December 28. However, the film is also eagerly anticipated by the cast and crew of the film and foremost among them is director Rohit Shetty’s chief assistant director, Sneha Shetty who has worked with him in films like All the Best, Golmaal 3, Singham, Singham Returns, Bol Bachchan, Chennai Express, Dilwale, Golmaal Again and now Simmba.
We caught up with Sneha and had a candid conversation with her where she spilled the beans on the quirky name Simmba, her future projects and why working with Rohit is the best in the film industry. Here are the excerpts from the interview.
Q. How did you come up with this name Simmba for the film?
A. Actually, we generally have a jamming session where Rohit bhai and all sit together to discuss the name which will suit the best to a movie. We generally take out and ponder on all the elements of the film and after going through the script and everything of the film, Rohit bhai said, ‘You know this is how my character should be. He is very notorious and naughty but at the same time he is a very soft hearted person’. So I had taken out a couple of names out of which Simmba he particularly liked.
Q. You’ve been associated with Rohit Shetty right from All the Best, so how has the journey been and what is different now?
A. Each film has been a learning process for each of us and I think Rohit bhai is the only director in the film industry where girls really feel safe to work. You can trust him and his team and he is probably the cleanest people in the industry. Working with him is like a big family. Because of Rohit Sir, we have all grown stronger and I don’t think there is any other place in the industry like Rohit Shetty Picturez.
Q. Ajay Devgn or Ranveer Singh, who is better to work with?
A. Every actor has his own charm in our film and Rohit Bhai very beautifully makes the characterization keeping the character in mind. With Ranveer Singh, we cannot do what we can with Ajay Sir and vice versa. Every actor brings his own charm to the film, even if you see Simmba how beautifully Ajay Sir’s cameo has been shot. You don’t miss anybody and you can’t take anything from anyone, Rohit sir knows very well how to make the characters loved by the audience.
Q. You are directing a film for Rohit Shetty, can you tell us something about it?
A. It’s too early right now to speak about it. However, it will happen next year for sure.
