Katrina Kaif, asked about her limited screen presence in Thugs Of Hindostan, says ‘It was my choice’

Katrina primarily appeared in two songs in the film

Aamir Khan’s Thugs Of Hindostan failed to impress fans but what audiences were disappointed about more than the plot is that Katrina Kaif’s role in the film was limited to just two songs apart from a few minutes here and there. Katrina, however, said while speaking to a leading daily that it was her “choice” to keep her appearance to the bare minimum in the film.

In Thugs Of Hindostan, Katrina primarily appeared in two songs – Suraiyya and Manzoor-e-Khuda. Her dance performances were mesmerizing, to say the least while the 35-year-old actress is also aware of the fact that her fans expected to see more of her in the Vijay Krishna Acharya-directed film.

“It was my choice. I’ve a wonderful equation with Aditya (Chopra), Aamir (Khan), Victor sir (Vijay Krishna Acharya) and all of us worked together as a team. I knew exactly what I was doing in the film. I’m sure everyone wished it could have done better. It’s okay, you learn and keep trying,” Katrina, asked whether she felt she ‘wasn’t given enough scope to perform’ in the film, told the daily.

Produced by Aditya Chopra under his banner Yash Raj Films, Thugs Of Hindostan was one of the most anticipated films of 2018 but was widely panned by the audience and critics. The film cast Aamir and Amitabh Bachchan in the principal roles apart from Fatima Sana Shaikh and Katrina.

While addressing the press in November, Aamir took full responsibility for the film’s failure and said, “I want to apologise to my audience also as this time I wasn’t able to entertain them. I know people came in theatres with a lot of expectations but they didn’t enjoy the film. Audience is free to say what they feel about the film. What I can say is that we certainly tried our level best and I am feeling really bad that we didn’t succeed in entertaining the audience. So, next time we will try harder.”

Katrina, meanwhile, is gearing up for the release of her new film Zero, co-starring Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma. Directed by Aanand L Rai, Zero will hit screens on December 21.
