Robert Pattinson's Batman gets his most trusted person Alfred Pennyworth in Andy Serkis, confirms director Matt Reeves

The upcoming American superhero film The Batman has curated the right amount of anticipation and excitement among the audience ever since its announcement. With the handsome and talented Robert Pattinson playing the titular role, avid DC Comic fans are waiting with bated breath for yet another engaging chapter to be told on the silver screen. And owing to a massive fan following for the franchise, the makers of this Matt Reeves directorial are leaving no stone unturned to dig out the best for their audience. Staying true to this, the team, after roping in a stellar cast including Paul Dano, Zoe Kravitz and Jeffrey Wright, welcomed yet another actor par excellence, Andy Serkis, on board.

Matt, who will be directing a Batman film for the first time, introduced Andy as Batman's most trusted person Alfred Pennyworth. Matt, on Twitter, on Thursday, broke out the news in a unique manner by sharing a GIF of Andy where he is running down the red carpet to give fans a high-five. "And here comes #Alfred !," Matt wrote while sharing the GIF.

With The Batman, Andy and Matt will be collaborating yet again after Planet of the Apes, which was directed by the latter. This confirmation came amidst speculations of Matt casting Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot, the Penguin and Matthew McConaughey as Harvey Dent aka Two-Face. However, Matt and the makers of the film are yet to give an official statement regarding this rumour.

Speaking of The Batman, Robert will play the titular role of Batman aka Bruce Wayne while Zoe Kravitz has been cast as Selina Kyle or Catwoman. Paul Dano is Edward Nashto aka The Riddler and Jeffrey Wright will be seen as Commissioner Gordon. The Batman is said to release on June 25, 2021.
