Leonardo DiCaprio shares an Instagram post raising awareness about the ongoing water crisis in Chennai, Internet thanks him for showing his concern

Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio shared an Instagram post, raising awareness about the ongoing water crisis in Chennai. “We can change the world!” the Oscar-winning star wrote, alongside a BBC story about the crisis. What hit people really hard was how an actor from abroad is so concerned about the water situation in India while most people here choose to be quiet about it. Instagram users filled Leonardo's post with "Thank you" comments and mentioning how he is more concerned that Indians. 

Leonardo had visited India in 2015, to film a segment for his 2016 documentary film, Beyond the Flood. Talking about the situation in Chennai, Water in four of its main reservoirs has depleted to less than 1%. Most of the population is dependant on state-run and private water tankers. Several hotels and restaurants have been closed. The Central Water Commission reporting a rainfall deficit of 41% in Tamil Nadu. 

On this, Leonardo posted a statement from BBC and wrote, "Only rain can save Chennai from this situation." A well completely empty, and a city without water. The southern Indian city of Chennai is in crisis, after the four main water reservoirs ran completely dry. The acute water shortage has forced the city to scramble for urgent solutions and residents have to stand in line for hours to get water from government tanks. As the water levels depleted, hotels and restaurants started to shut down temporarily, and the air con was turned off in the city's metro. Leonardo DiCaprio is a vocal environmentalist and has spoken about climate change at the UN, and via the several documentaries, he has produced on the subject.
