After playing Aquaman, Jason Momoa wants to take on Hugh Jackman’s iconic X-Men character Wolverine

After Hugh Jackman bid adieu to playing his most notable and iconic role of Wolverine from the X-Men franchise, the hunt for the new Wolverine is paramount. Several notable Hollywood names have been popped up and fans are eagerly waiting to know who gets to play the most loved mutant. The top choice for the role is Tom Hardy and many fans are rooting for him to take on the role of the mutant who has astonishingly healing powers, a near-immortal age and Adamantium claws that can slice through anything. However, the newest name to join the list is of Jason Momoa who has shown interest in playing the role of the Wolverine.

The Game of Thrones star was last seen playing Aquaman in the standalone film directed by James Wan under the DC universe. He now has his sights set on entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe by playing the role of Wolverine. The actor confessed he would “love” to take on Hugh’s role while he was attending the Celebrity Fan Fest in San Antonio. When a fan asked him which X-Men character he would like to play, he said, “I'd love to play Wolverine. Hugh Jackman was phenomenal. I grew up just loving Wolverine."

However, it might be some time before Marvel turns towards expanding the X-Men universe. However, over the years, Marvel has steadily introduced younger actors to take on the roles of the X-Men from the original actors who played them. Michael Fassbender took on the role of Magneto from Ian McKellen, while James McAvoy took on the mantle of being Professor X from Stewart Patrick. Sophie Turner took on the role of Jean Grey in the latest X-Men film Dark Phoenix from Famke Janssen and Jennifer Lawrence from Rebecca Romijn as Mystique/Raven. Let’s hope that the studio comes up with a new Wolverine film soon.
