Avengers: Endgame box office Day 2: Marvel film continues to break records, crosses the Rs 100 crore mark in just two days

Avengers: Endgame, the finale to 11 years worth of superhero films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has been creating a buzz ever since it was announced. In fact, before the film hit the Indian theatres on April 26, the tickets of were sold out in a snap with the audience being super-excited to watch the much-anticipated film on the silver screen. As expected, Avengers: Endgame opened to packed theatres on the first day, earning a whopping Rs 53.10 crore nett (Rs 63.21 crore gross). It not only witnessed the highest opening of 2019, of any Hollywood film in India, but also saw the second highest opening of any film in Indian box office history. 

On its second day, the film, which released in Hindi, English, Tamil and Telugu across 2845 screens in India, minted Rs 51.40 crore, crossing the Rs 100 crore in mere two days. The total two day collections of the film now stand as Rs 104.50 crore (Rs 124.40 crore gross). As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, "The unimaginable craze for Avengers only goes to prove, yet again, that the moviegoers are willing to dig into their wallets/purses and shell out exorbitant money for tickets *if* the film is worth it."

Directed by the Russo Brothers (Joe and Anthony), Avengers: Endgame depicts Thanos engaging in an epic battle with the superheroes, including the original Avengers. The film stars an ensemble cast including Robert Downey Jr, Brie Larson, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner and Scarlett Johansson, among others.
