Before entering the showbiz, Deepika was a model and a badminton player. She revealed that modelling happened to her in a way she didn't expect. It was through her close friend’s mother who was in a reputed agency, that she stepped foot into the modelling industry. Initially, she tried some assignments just to get the exposure and fun but after her first solo trip at the age of 16, she decided to quit badminton and pursue her career in acting and modelling.

The first person who had a huge impact on DP’s life and fashion was her first stylist, Anaita Shroff Adajania who worked with her for many years until she met her now stylist Shaleena on the way. Nathani was then working as an assistant stylist with Anaita and first collaborated with Deepika on the film, Love Aaj Kal. She later started styling her independently and there has been no looking back for them ever since.

Sharing her experience of working with Deepika, Shaleena said that her personal style has evolved a lot over time. When they started it was more of jeans, t-shirt and basic looks but now Deepika has been open to experiments with lots of colours, cool athleisure looks and smashing airport looks. Adding to this, Deepika revealed that her exposure to social media, magazines and film characters played an important role in her style evolution and allowed her to embrace fashion in a different way. Her inherent style has always been simple, classic and elegant. But having a modelling exposure allowed her to play with fashion.

When asked about which designer she enjoys wearing, Deepika answered it was her extravagant neon dress from Giambattista Valli that she flaunted on Cannes 2019 red carpet. She loves his work in general and thinks that she is in a phase of her life where she enjoys large, colourful and vibrant couture. Shaleena also opened up about the pressure of outdoing her last year’s Cannes look and making it bigger this time, in every way.

The actor and the stylist opened up about working with each other and we think it’s just one beautiful story. They work on everything together and really get and understand each other. Over the time, these stylish ladies have become close friends and it’s just not about work anymore but also about comfort. Deepika shared that they have almost started their careers together when Nathani was an assistant stylist and watching Shaleena evolve in front of her eyes makes her really happy.
