Sabyasachi Mukherjee 'accepts blame' after netizens brutally troll him for calling 'overdressed' women 'wounded'

Sabyasachi Mukherjee is undoubtedly one of the most celebrated designers in the country and it would not be wrong to say that every girls dreams to be wearing his designs on their wedding ceremonies. Apart from styling A-listers in several Bollywood films, he is known to have designed wedding outfits for the likes of Virat Kohli-Anushka Sharma, Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra Jonas-Nick Jonas. Looking at his fabulous work, everyone is in awe always!

However, Sabyasachi's recent Instagram post has not gone down well with internet users. Quoting Miss Havisham from Great Expectations, Sabyasachi had mentioned, "If you see a woman 'overdressed', caked with makeup, armoured with jewellery, it is most likely that she is wounded. Bleeding inside, silently. Holding on to her pride and dignity, shining for the world, though within her innermost being there is a dark, blinding pain." She needs healing, and nothing else, he said. Soon after the post was out, netizens started trolling him left, right and centre for his regressive views on women.

From calling the post 'ridiculous' to telling the designer to 'stop being so judgemental', check out how the netizens slammed the designer:

After his statement started getting flak, Sabyasachi accepted the 'blame' and offered an unconditional apology, saying, "I acknowledge the feedback we have received regarding the statements made in our recent Instagram presentation. We hear you and although it was intended as a message of love and empathy and a call to look beyond exterior appearances, it wasn't articulated correctly. I understand that it does not convey the message appropriately at all and for that, I would like to accept blame and offer an unconditional apology."

The designer put out the statement on his Instagram story.
