My quest is to tell female tales and create a cross-pollination of storytelling: Priyanka Chopra Jonas signs a multimillion-dollar first-look television deal with Amazon

Priyanka Chopra Jonas is a bona fide global star who has conquering cinema one day at a time. While she has made a mark for herself as a phenomenal actress in Bollywood and Hollywood, Priyanka is exploring endless opportunities as a producer with her home production company Purple Pebbles Pictures. In a landmark announcement, the 37-year-old star has signed a two-year multimillion-dollar first-look television deal with Amazon. She will be producing scripted as well as unscripted content for the platform in an attempt to 'course-correct Hollywood’s treatment of South Asian actors and people behind the scenes'.

The head of Amazon Studios, Jennifer Salke, in conversation with an international publication, recalled interacting with Priyanka during a general meeting that led to the deal. Calling her a powerhouse producer, Jennifer said the company is thrilled to collaborate with her. "Priyanka and I bonded over a shared passion for diverse global storytelling. Priyanka is drawn to exciting original content and characters that can resonate globally. She’s a powerhouse producer, and we are thrilled to collaborate with her for years to come," Jennifer said.

YESSSS @amazonstudios, LET’S GET IT!!! So honored and excited to finally share this news with you. Looking ahead, we already have so much on our slate! Big thank you to @jsalke and her team at Amazon for being such great partners, and for sharing in the belief that talent and good content knows no boundaries. As both an actor and producer, I have always dreamt of an open canvas of creative talent coming together from all over the world to create great content irrespective of language and geography. This has always been the DNA of my production house Purple Pebble Pictures, and is the foundation of this exciting new endeavor with Amazon. And as a storyteller, my quest is to constantly push myself to explore new ideas that not only entertain, but most importantly, open minds and perspectives. Looking back on my 20 year career, nearly 60 films later, I hope that I’m on my way to achieving that. Thank you to all of you who have been a big part of my journey so far. And for those who are just getting to know me, or maybe only recognize me as Alex Parrish from Quantico, I’m excited for you to get to know me better. @purplepebblepictures @variety @marcmalkin

Talking about producing global content as a part of the multimillion-dollar deal, Priyanka said she wants to bring to fore strong female stories and plans to create a cross-pollination of storytelling with creators from all corners of the world. "My quest really is to be able to tell female stories, work with creators from around the world and create a cross-pollination of storytelling. Amazon is such a great partner to do that because their reach and outlook is so global. My Amazon television deal is a global deal, so I can do Hindi language, I can do English language, I can do whatever language I want," Priyanka told.

Priyanka's longtime manager Anjula Acharia gushed, "Priyanka’s willingness to challenge the status quo is exactly what global audiences are crying out for, and for this reason alone, she is one of the most unique talents in the landscape right now."
