PeepingMoon Exclusive! James Bond’s scared of Ranveer Singh, ‘No Time to Die’ avoids BO clash with ‘83’

Yes, is James Bond scared of our Ranveer Singh? That is definitely the impression PeepingMoon.com has picked up on hearing the news that the 25th Bond film that’s slated for release in April 2020, No Time to Die, has hurriedly changed its opening date in India because Ranveer’s sports drama 83 is coming out at the same time. The last Bond film was Spectre in October 2015. And fans of the suave British Secret Service agent 007 are anxious for Bond to return to the screen. Especially with No Time to Die being Craig’s last outing as Bond and the gorgeous actress Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel) replacing him as 007.

But the international distributor of the film, Universal Pictures, has reportedly sought an earlier date for its India release just so that No Time to Die does not come up against the Ranveer starrer 83 at the box office. No prizes for guessing who will come out on top at the box office – Bond or Ranveer. Director Kabir Khan’s sports biographical 83, based on India’s first win at the World Cup in 1983, is one of Bollywood’s most anticipated releases in 2020. But the excitement goes up several notches because Ranveer is playing the iconic cricket captain Kapil Dev and Deepika Padukone his wife Romi.

Ranveer, who had a terrific end to 2018 with Simmba and a great start to 2019 with Gully Boy, has found his fan following crazily skyrocketing and now Bollywood audiences everywhere are looking forward to the actor’s next. In this scenario, there’s no way a Bond release can hope to compete with a Ranveer film.

According to sources, No Time to Die is having a worldwide release on April 8. It will open earlier in UK on April 3, Bond being an English spy working for Her Majesty’s Secret Service and all that. But the film cannot keep its April 8 release date in India with 83 breathing down its neck and coming on April 10. So the distributor is looking at bringing No Time to Die on April 3 in India too.
