Exclusive: Karan Johar signs Suhani Dhanki Mody of TV serial ‘Porus’ fame for ‘Takht’

Even while Bollywood went ballistic yesterday with the news of Sanjay Leela Bhansali scrapping his slice of life film Inshallah with Salman Khan, another major studio head was signing on a popular TV actor for his ambitious period drama slated for release in mid-2020.

PeepingMoon.com has exclusive and confirmed information that Karan Johar has taken popular TV actor Suhani Dhanki Mody for his epic action-drama Takht that already has Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Janhvi Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Anil Kapoor playing major roles.

This is a big Bollywood break for Suhani who got known and accepted as the character ‘Lacchi’ in Sony TV’s historical series Porus. She will reportedly be playing Janhvi’s best friend in Takht. The actress, who is now married and settled in London, almost didn’t want to accept Dharma Productions’ offer.

Suhani met Takht casting director Shanoo Sharma through her Porus co-star Laksh Lalwani and that’s how she was offered the role. Initially, she was reluctant to say “yes” because the role seemed small and the remuneration not enough for someone jetting to and from London for the shooting. But KJo is believed to have met the TV actress in person and reworked all that to her satisfaction.
