Exclusive: Saif Ali Khan and Kritika Kamra to star in Ali Abbas Zafar’s ‘Tandav’

Is Saif Ali Khan following Akshay Kumar’s footsteps? The Nawab of Bollywood has signed as many as five projects post the humongous success of Sacred Games last year. He has already shot for Ajay Devgn’s Tanhaji, Navdeep Singh’s Laal Kaptan and Netflix’s Sacred Games Season 2 which premieres on August 15. He is currently shooting Nitin Kakkar’s Jawaani Jaaneman in London and has locked the Vikram Vedha remake which will see him with his Dil Chahta Hai co-star Aamir Khan next year. Apart from these confirmed projects, Saif is also in talks for the Jigarthanda remake that Abhishek Chaubey is directing for Sajid Nadiadwala and the actor is most likely to sign Sriram Raghavan’s next for Ramesh Taurani’s banner.

Now PeepingMoon.com has learned that Saif has green lighted one more project that he will dive into right after completing Jawaani Jaaneman. Our sources have confirmed that Saif will headline the cast of Ali Abbas Zafar’s political thriller series Tandav. Although the rumours of him doing this Amazon Prime show has been doing rounds for a while now, our sources say it was just recently that Saif signed on the dotted line. Said to be a drama-thriller, the show goes on floors in October and will be majorly shot in Delhi.

Tandav will be made on a huge budget and will have as many as 12 principal characters including the two lead protagonists – a student activist and a political leader. Saif is believed to be playing the student activist while the casting for the parts of the political leader, students, and others are still on. Our sources have also revealed that Kritika Kamra, who has done television shows like Kitani Mohabbat Hai and Reporters, has been roped in to play a major role in this eight-episode series. Although the details of her character are unknown yet, this show marks her first big project after her Bollywood debut (Mitron) last year.

Tandav is believed to be a path-breaking kind of show on the digital platform. Written by Article 15 co-writer Gaurav Solanki, it is a youth-focused political drama which explores the dark corners of Indian politics. “Where powerful politicians, and those who aspire to be, sow chaos and manipulate others to control the country, and ruthless pragmatism contrasts with the frustrations and aspirations of contemporary India and the ideals of the country’s youth,” reads the plotline of the show.
