Kartik Aaryan's and Bhumi Pednekar's characters nowhere close to the original, Ananya Panday is surprise package: Director Mudassar Aziz on Pati, Patni Aur Woh

Kartik Aaryan's-Bhumi Pednekar's-Ananya Panday's upcoming rom-com Pati, Patni Aur Woh managed to create quite a stir across social media platforms after the first poster of each character was released on Tuesday. The film, soon after being announced earlier this year, became the talk of the town for being the remake of the classic by the same name released in 1978 and fans of the actors were excited to see them cast the magic as the original one. And while it was being said that this film is a remake with a similar story, the director of Pati, Patni Aur Woh, Mudassar Aziz cleared the air during an interview with a leading daily and told that apart from the title and logline, there is no similarity between the two. He further added that the Kartik-Bhumi-Ananya starrer is a take on modern-day relationships. Calling the film a humble tribute to B R Chopra, whose grandson Abhay aka Juno Chopra is producing the film, Mudassar said the characters have been modified and are given a brand new treatment.

"Modern-day relationships are based on different value systems. Hence, we turned things around on the concept level itself and re-wrote the plot. Our film shares nothing with the original other than its title and logline. It is a humble tribute to BR saab (director of the original). This film, in a light-hearted manner, analyses what makes people stray. We created a brand new character for Kartik. Bhumi's 'Patni' is nowhere close to what Vidyaji played in the original and Ananya is the surprise package," Mudassar told.

The original Pati, Patni Aur Woh revolved around an extra-marital affair where an office going, married man (Sanjeev Kumar) falls in love with his secretary (Ranjeeta Kaur). In order to grow closer to her, he lies that his wife (Vidya Sinha) is terminally ill. Soon, his wife smells something fishy and spies on him. It's when the truth is out before both the women, hells breaks loose for the lead actor. In the new version, Kartik plays the role of 'pati' Chintu Tyagi, Bhumi is 'patni' Vedika Tripathi and Ananya is the glamorous 'woh'. It is directed by Mudassar and produced by Juno, T-Series and B.R Films. Pati, Patni Aur Woh is scheduled to release on December 6, 2019.
