'It is good that it is averted': Akshay Kumar on Sooryavanshi vs Inshallah box office clash

Akshay Kumar's cop drama Sooryavanshi, co-starring Katrina Kaif, was earlier slated to lock horns with Salman Khan's Inshallah, co-starring Alia Bhatt, at the box office on Eid 2020. It was more like a clash of the titans with the Rohit Shetty directorial battling it out with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Inshallah. However, Akshay and Rohit decided to shift their date and Sooryavanshi will now have a solo release next year on March 27, 2020. Inshallah, on the other hand, will still hit the theatres on the occasion of Eid next year.

Talking about the same, Akshay recently told a news agency, "It is always a good sign that the two movies do not come at the same time. It is good that it (clash) is averted. However, the clash between any two films is likely to happen. We are making 210 Hindi films and we have 52 weeks in a year so we are bound to have two or more films releasing on the same date."

Sooryavanshi has Rohit collaborating for the first time with Akshay Kumar in his directorial venture, which sees the actor as Anti Terrorist Squad chief Veer Sooryavanshi. His character was introduced towards the end of Ranveer Singh starrer Simmba. Interestingly, the film also reunites Akshay with Katrina Kaif after about 9 years.

While he may have averted Sooryavanshi and Inshallah clash, Akshay's recently announced film Bachchan Pandey is slated to hit the theatres on the occasion of Christmas 2020, on the same day as Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha. Akshay, who is curently busy promoting Mission Mangal, also has Housefull 4, Good News and Ikka in the pipeline.
