After Sona Mohapatra, CBFC member Vani Tripathi Tikoo slams Shahid Kapoor starrer ‘Kabir Singh’ for being misogynistic and extremely violent

Shahid Kapoor’s latest release Kabir Singh might be the biggest opener of his career and has appealed to the audience but the film is also getting a lot of brickbats for showcasing misogyny and excessively violent behaviour. The film is the official Hindi remake of Telugu hit Arjun Reddy and has been helmed by the original director Sandeep Reddy Vanga but the film has got mixed reviews from the critics.

Only recently playback singer Sona Mohapatra raised issues with the film’s toxic masculinity and misogyny and pointed fingers at superstars in taking up such roles that give a bad message to the society. Now, CBFC member Vani Tripathi Tikoo has also raised her objections to the film. Vani took to her Twitter to slam Shahid’s Kabir Singh in a series of tweets. She wrote, “I find it baffling that "Big Stars" make these choices who actually lead by Example! As the Cinematic journey of the country has gone beyond its "Traditional" Women as "Eye Candy" routine. Can we remember how movie characters are idolised? #StopMisogyny #KabirSingh".
