Housefull 4: Akshay Kumar to play a 16th century King, Riteish Deshmukh, and Bobby Deol as his royal courtiers?

In the recent times, the Housefull film franchise has some of the most successful comedy films in its repertoire. Now, Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 4 is in the works and will be soon up for release. The film has an ensemble cast with Akshay in the lead, along with Bobby Deol, Kriti Sanon, Kriti Kharbanda, Pooja Hegde, Riteish Deshmukh, Chunky Panday, Boman Irani and others. The film revolves around reincarnation and will have two tracks, one featuring the protagonists’ lives in the present day and age while the other is set 500 years ago.

A leading tabloid reported that Akshay will be seen as a Maharaja in the segment that deals with his past life with Bobby and Riteish playing his royal courtiers. Kriti, Kriti Kharbanda and Pooja Hegde will be seen in the role of princesses from the era, whereas Chunky’s character will be seen as the nephew of the celebrated explorer Vasco-da-Gama who discovered the sea route to India from Africa.

A source from the creative team told the tabloid, “The fourth instalment offers a hilarious spin on reincarnation. In the first half that is set in the 16th century, Akshay sports different looks as the king. In fact, the picture of one of his looks, where he is flaunting a bald pate, went viral last year. Bobby, on the other hand, will be seen sporting long hair in this portion. Since Chunkey Pandey's character Aakhri Pasta has been established as half-Italian in the previous editions, the makers were struggling to incorporate him in the 16th century. After much deliberation, it was decided that he will be seen as Vasco Da Gama's nephew. Given its period drama feel, this track was filmed across Rajasthan. A sizeable portion was also shot at Film City, where a lavish palace was constructed."

Apparently, the past life segments rely heavily on special effects and VFX while the present day segments are extensively shot in London.
