Manmarziyaan: Abhishek Bachchan is 'okay with getting harsh comments' for his act

The trailer of Abhishek Bachchan’s upcoming film Manmarziyaan is already garnering a whole lot of love from fans. The actor, who was last seen in 2016 film Housefull 3, is geared up for his return to the cinematic world with the Anurag Kashyap-directed film. In a recent interview with a news agency, Abhishek got candid about his break from films and how it is vital to be relevant rather than being visible on screen.

Abhishek, furthermore, also explained that he is "okay" with what the audience and the critics are expecting from him in Manmarziyaan. "I am okay with getting harsh comments if they don't like my performance. They are spending money to watch my films and they have every right to be harsh. I have no problems with them being direct to me," he said.

The actor had taken a sabbatical for two years after Housefull 3 released but is of the opinion that the hiatus has helped him to evolve. "I felt I was becoming complacent in my work space and that was the main reason why I decided to go on a break. Complacency is like slow poison. That is why I needed some time off. To just re-focus and I am glad that I did that,” he added.

Meanwhile, Abhishek also revealed that he just took 15 minutes to give a nod to his role in Manmarziyaan.

"Earlier this year, Aanand L Rai called me and then I got the narration of the film. He told me he wanted Anurag to direct. When he told me that, I said yes within 15 minutes. I felt it was a perfect mixture of creative people, with Anurag essentially," added the actor. He also said that he instinctively knew Anurag would do something different with a love story.

Manmarziyaan, co-starring Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal, is scheduled to release this Friday.
