My Dad is not sitting in Hollywood saying 'Oh, let me make a film for you': Priyanka Chopra

Ever since Priyanka Chopra conquered the world by winning the Miss World crown in 2000 she has never looked back. The lady has battled numerous controversies, naysayers, and detractors but has still managed to carve her own success path. PeeCee who took the world by storm by starring in ABC’s hit FBI series Quantico (in 20 15, followed by two more successful seasons) has become the symbol of women empowerment and gender equality. She has gone on to make her debut in Hollywood and has managed to make a mark there as well.

During a recent media interaction as a part of FICCI Ladies Organisation’s (FLO) interactive session on Challenging the Status Quo and Forging New Paths Priyanka spoke about standing by her decision of doing Baywatch opposite Dwayne Johnson. Her first Hollywood film might not have broken records at the box office but the actress said that she doesn’t regret taking up the role.

She said, “I don’t know many actresses who have got a chance to play a character like that in a mainstream American movie. Reviews spoke very well of me. I don’t think it was a bad decision; my dad is not sitting in Hollywood saying ‘oh, let me make a film for you’. I have to choose from what I get as a new actor and I am building opportunities for myself. I thought going toe to toe with Dwayne Johnson, which most guys don’t end up doing, was great. The only thing I missed was not getting to wear the iconic swimsuit.”

On the work front, Priyanka will be seen in Shonali Bose’s film which is tentatively titled The Sky Is Pink. Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim star in the film besides PeeCee. She had also signed Universal’s picture Cowboy Ninja Viking opposite Chris Pratt but news are coming in that the film has been stalled indefinitely.
