Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019: From Malaika Arora’s steamy strut to Kareena Kapoor Khan’s grand closure, witness all the sartorial shenanigans for Day 5

The Day 5 of the Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive kickstarted on a glamorous note and lived up to the expectations. We witnessed some mesmerizing collections which hit us right in the feels.

DISHA PATIL

Aimed at the New Age bride, Disha Patil’s bridal and occasion wear had the ultimate luxurious appeal with timeless elegance for her “The Interpretation of Love” collection. The origami drapes added glamour to the shoulders and necklines of the garments but it was the intricate detailing that was fascinating on the ensembles. The popular hues of the Bosphorus and Turkey were captured in ivory, powder blue and teal along with pretty peach.

DIYA RAJVVIR

Diya Rajvvir’s festive collection “Rosette” was all about romance that will last forever with creations that celebrate the bridal event.

Making a show-stopping entry was Malaika Arora who made a grand appearance in a plunging neckline, fitted choli with giant, layered, fan sleeves and a slinky rose, embroidered marsala, high-slit long skirt.

PUNIT BALANA

Punit Balana’s collection “Rabari” consisted of exclusive block prints, organic dyes, colours, eco-friendly techniques and silhouettes. The colour card was dominated by black along with dry henna and buttercup, which is ideal for the festive season.

To the foot-tapping beat of two drummers, showstopper Shilpa Shetty made a rocking entrance as she swished down the ramp in a swirling, shimmering, lehenga and a dazzling mirror work halter choli, accessorised with giant latkans and a potli bag.

KAVERI

Making a debut at the Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019 season, the label Kaveri believed in Body Positivity and to Love Yourself the Way You Are. The show called “Festive Dreams” was a visually stunning showcase as the models glided down the ramp. Always partial to linen, which the brand gets specially woven, there was just a minute hint of Chantilly lace, organza and linen knits.

For a show-stopping entry was the gorgeous Shabana Azmi in a black and white layered kurta teamed with a pink pleated dupatta with white frills.

TISA

Shey by Tisa was a grand offering, as it presented multiple in-trend clothing options for men, at Lakmé Fashion Week. Experimenting innovatively with organic yarns, all silhouettes were showered with intense detailing. Reinterpreting tie and dye techniques along with stripes and checks, the brand kept the embellishments to a minimum, letting the garments speak for themselves. There was a wide range of bundgalas, kurtas and jackets.

For a show-stopping entry, it was the very talented actor, Vijay Varma who strutted down the ramp in an all-black kurta and churidars, teamed with a sequined jacket that set the look for the coming season.

RAJDEEP RANAWAT

Rajdeep Ranawat’s “Sindh” collection was a fantasy of colours, fabrics, designs and glamour. Mixing the colours and prints in an amazing manner, the designer opened the show with a black/white, cropped pants, shirt and soft robe followed by a mirror work short jacket over dhoti pants, shararas and asymmetrical kurta.

Ranawat showcased just two men’s wear – Bundi/kurta with slim pants, which matched the colours prints and shimmer of the theme.

SVA BY SONAM AND PARAS

SVA label by Sonam and Paras Modi made a strong but ultra-glam fashion statement with their collection “Rani SVA”. There were intensely structured silhouettes that were created with metallic surfaces interwoven into geometric textiles.

SVA added some sherwanis, kurtas, shaded Bundi, striped kurta, and a Bundi and kurta combo in rich silks for men that will be great additions to the wardrobes of the stylish male.

PINK PEACOCK COUTURE

Pink Peacock Couture enchanted us with their charming designs.

KAVITA AGARWAL

Kavita Agarwal managed to wow us with the regalia and magic of heavy traditional embroidery and motifs on her ensembles.

KRAFT CORRIDOR

Kraft Corridor's chic designs are perfect for this upcoming shaadi season.

SAROJ JALAN

Saving the best for last, Saroj Jalan made us swoon over her oh-so-dreamy ensembles.

And to top it all, Genelia D'Souza did the strut for her...talk about perfection!

RINA DHAKA X ALL PLUS-SIZE

Rina Dhaka X All Plus-size presentation was like a breath of fresh air! Breaking barriers and stereotypes, the collection featured a variety of trendy silhouettes made to fit for the curvy ones.

What's more? Delnaaz Irani and Vahbiz Dorabjee walked the runway and we were truly mesmerized!

Fashion for all indeed!

GAURI & NAINIKA

This year the Lakmé Absolute Grand Finale took the celebration a notch higher with designers, Gauri & Nainika making a comeback as the Finale Designers and showcasing new age feminine collection inspired by #FreeYourLips.

And who best to endorse this thought than the Lakmé Brand Ambassador, Kareena Kapoor Khan.

Their collection reflected power dressing of the 80s to the golden era, styles which are fun, free and light, sharp detailing, dramatic and fluid silhouettes, vintage botanical illustrations and intricate hand embroideries with hints of shimmer in strikingly bold colours.

We are mesmerized by this finale…are you too?
