No live audience, new lifeline: Amitabh Bachchan's Kaun Banega Crorepati 12 to introduce changes in format due to pandemic

Amitabh Bachchan is all set to go on air with the 12th season of his iconic quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati. The show will premiere on September 28 on Sony TV. Ahead of it, the makers and channel, on social media, released an exclusive video of the showrunner and creative producer Sujata Sanghamitra. In the video, she spoke about how the team has adapted to the new normal.

In the video shared on Twitter, Sujata informed that Kaun Banega Crorepati 12 has undergone some major changes due to the Covid-19 pandemic. She said that the number of fastest finger first contestants has been reduced from 10 to 8 as the seats need to spaced out according to social distancing norms. Sujata also revealed that the lifeline Audience Poll has been discontinued as there won't be a live audience present in the studio. Instead, they have added the option of Video a Friend.

Sujata further told that the team generally travels to different cities to shoot introductory videos of the contestants. However, this time, the reality team connected with them virtually and assisted them with the shoot. Calling it the biggest challenge, Sujata said, "we turned it into an opportunity and it is turning out beautifully."

Kaun Banega Crorepati, ever since its inception in 2000, is hosted by Mr. Bachchan except the third season which had Shah Rukh Khan seated on the veteran actor's chair.
