The end of the week couldn’t have a better end than Karan Johar in a conversation with hand-picked celebrity combinations. For the Sunday episode of December 23, 2018, Karan invited the team of India’s largest motion picture which broke all the conceivable records. Baahubali trio Prabhas, Rana Daggubati and SS Rajamouli graced the couch on Koffee With Karan, also competing for the coveted hamper.
In the long-standing illustrious history of KWK, we have seen all types of banters – the funny ones, the sensational ones, the tongue-in-cheek ones, the warm and fuzzy ones and even the ones that were plain bland. But last evening was a matter of immense pride for Johar as he managed the casting coup nobody has ever done before on national television. Darling Prabhas made an appearance for the very first time on a talk show.
We have seen them as the Baahubali, Bhallala Deva and the director of a two-part series that raked in Rs 2000 crore at the ticket windows. One thing we all can agree on is that such a franchise that the trio dedicated four and a half years of their life too, sure wasn’t made without some interesting anecdotes and startling revelations to follow later. Besides taking conjectures heads on, we extend a special thanks to revealing everything he did about his boys Rana and Prabhas.
Without much ado, here are the most special moments that stayed with us from the episode. And also made us go ROFL.
- Baahubali likes to enjoy female attention, but from a distance.
You must be kidding or probably lost your mind if you think Prabhas doesn’t get female attention thrown at his way like nobody’s business. He is the Darling of the nation, after all. But being the extremely lazy lad, he is, he prefers to enjoy it from a distance. Fair enough!
- Prabhas is that friend who will readily plan and then ditch last moment.
It so happened that the day Baahubali: The Beginning was slated to release, Prabhas, Rana and Rajamouli had decided to face the verdict together and be emotionally in it all. However, anxious as he got Prabhas ditched the two and remained in Delhi. Daggubati flew to Mumbai while the director took a flight to Hyderabad. Every friend ever, literally.
- Darling is a big-time foodie. No surprises there!
Rajamouli confirms that if not an actor, Prabhas would most definitely be in the food-eating business. He is a die-hard foodie and looking at his macho physique, we don’t harbour any doubts. None at all, Sir.
- Baahubali is a brat. Rajamouli approves.
One night, at Prabhas’ farmhouse the boys were playing volleyball till wee hours and finally headed to the dinner table. Now, here is a spread of 10 chicken curries, 10 chicken fries and so and so forth for fish, mutton and prawns. Enter the brat aka Prabhas. He asks for something that is missing from the menu and says he won’t eat until he gets that. His poor relative had to go wake his wife up, get that thing and then finally our Baahubali tasted everything else.
- Rana will get married before Prabhas. But there’s a logic behind it.
Rajamouli asserts Prabhas is too lazy to get married. The process of finding a girl, then sending out invitations, the ceremonies and all is too much for Prabhas. Rana, on the other hand, is very organized and structured. He has a box to tick off at every age interval and thus will get married before his co-star. Whether that marriage will last or not is something Rajamouli said he cannot guarantee.

When prodded who is the bad boy between the two handsome superstars? Rajamouli says it is Prabhas but Rana is likely to get caught. Perks of having an innocent face we tell you!
- Rana wants to set Prabhas with Katrina Kaif, choose Deepika Padukone for himself
The tall, dark and handsome man of every girl’s dreams finds Deepika the hottest on this side of the earth while he would want to set Prabhas up with Katrina Kaif. What’s more? He’d call Ranbir Kapoor for industry gossip and said Anushka Shetty was the sexiest actress in the Telugu film industry.
- When Rajamouli was confused for Katappa
Surprising but true! The director downed a shot when asked if he has been mistaken for a Baahubali actor. Katappa, he exclaimed! He also confessed that the first part of Baahubali is his favourite between the two. Moreover, he can never decide his favourite between Rajkumar Hirani and Anurag Kashyap.
- Darling and Sweety are a couple? We now finally know!
Prabhas cleared the air around his link-up with Anushka and asserted that they were never and are not dating. However, he did take a coffee shot for having lied on the koffee couch. Ahem, gotcha? But if there is any actress who makes him go weak in the knees, it’s Deepika Padukone. Seems like she is a hot favourite down South! He finds Shetty sexiest in the Telugu film circuit though. Yeah, yeah, we get the hint.
- Rana on his break-up with Trisha Krishnan.
It would be a fool’s job to not know that Rana Daggubati and Trisha Krishnan were once a thing. The two as the actor explains have been friends for a decade, dated for a while but it didn’t work out. Prabhas, however, wants to set up his friend Rana with his ex-flame again! ‘Go back!’ he said. Will he or won’t he? Only time will tell. For now, he is single, ladies! Make sure you have a great sense of humour to catch his eye.
This episode was a testimony to the adulation Baahubali series received from quarters both familiar and unknown. These superstars are an absolute simpleton at heart and that is what, sets them apart and makes them relatable AF. Thrilled to be entertained by these men in black.
