Alok Nath responds to CINTAA, refutes sexual harassment allegations by Vinta Nanda

After writer-producer Vinta Nanda recently accused veteran actor Alok Nath of sexually harassing and raping her almost two decades ago, Cine And TV Artistes' Association or CINTAA extended 'full support' to her by advising her to take legal action against him. Moreover, the executive member of CINTAA, Sushant Singh mentioned that a show cause notice will be sent to Alok Nath.

Now in a recent development, Alok Nath's lawyer Ashok Saraogi has revealed that the actor has replied to CINTAA's notice and has refuted allegations of rape and sexual harassment made against him by Vinta. In his reply to the film and television body, his lawyer has stated that no complaint against his client Alok has been filed with either police or legal authorities apart from giving interviews and making claims on social media. Terming all accusations as "false and fabricated", the reply dated October 13 further pointed out that until Alok is proven guilty by any court of law, he remains to be innocent.

On a related note, Alok and his wife Ashu Nath had also filed a defamation case against Vinta in the Andheri court on October 13, thereby seeking directions for Amboli police to take cognisance of their complaint against her.

Meanwhile, Dhruti M Kapadia, Supreme Court solicitor and advocate on record for Vinta, has stated that on instructions of her client, they are going to fight out the so called defamation proceedings legally. She also mentioned how Alok is supposed to reply to Indian Film & Television Directors Association (IFTDA) by Thursday and thus, they are awaiting the decisions of various associations where Vinta has filed her complaint. Further claiming that Vinta will not be deprived of any legal help she seeks, the SC solicitor said that client (Vinta) will not be intimidated by threats and defamation suits which are primarily meant to delay and distract from the gravity of the allegations.

Alok Nath came under the line of fire when Vinta shared her horrific ordeal through a Facebook post by hinting at the most 'sanskaari' person in Bollywood. Post that, actors Deepika Amin and Sandhya Mridul also shared their traumatic accounts of being harassed by Alok.
