Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer Kabir Singh hit the silver screens on June 21. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film is a remake of Vijay Deverakonda's 2017 film Arjun Reddy and just like the original, the remake too has impressed the cinegoers. The hard-hitting love story with a chartbuster music opened to a fantastic collection of Rs 20.21 crore, thereby emerging as Shahid's biggest opener so far. On Saturday, its second day at the box-office, Kabir Singh continued to weave magic and maintained a strong position by collecting Rs 22.71 crore. The total two day collections now stand at Rs 42.92 crore. This also made the film count in the top few box office earners in India so far this year, apart from being a good non-holiday performer.
As per a report in a trade portal, "The growth is 10% on Saturday and considering the first day was so strong, this is very good. The cricket match on Saturday did not affect business much and this was the case with all the films." Clealry, the film which released in 3123 screens across India, is refusing to slow down at the box office. In fact, Shahid and Kiara, who have collaborated with Sandeep Vanga Reddy for the first time, thanked their fans on Instagram for the fabulous response towards the film.
Kabir Singh narrates the story of Kabir (Shahid), a young final year medical student who falls in love with Preeti (Kiara), his junior in college. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Murad Khetani, Krishan Kumar and Ashwin Varde, the film is a T-Series and Cine1 Studios presentation.
