Kesari box office occupancy: Akshay Kamar's war saga enjoys a decent start despite Holi holiday

Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra starrer Kesari hit the silver screens today on the occasion of Holi and enjoyed a good opening at the box-office despite the holiday. The film's confinement to just two shows on single screens during morning in Northern and Central India as well as Bihar might have hampered the opening day box-office collections of the war saga, However, Kesari seemed all set to make up for it significantly more post 2pm, as per a report in a trade portal.

Interestingly, in places like Ahmedabad and Hyderabad, the film opened like normal in the morning with good collections. The report claims that while Kesari enjoyed 20 per cent morning occupancy, the collection are expected to go three times higher as the day progresses, making up for the lesser collections in the morning. This may be the case because Holi also happens to be a holiday and most malls open their shows very late in the evening.

According to the report, if Kesari does well with afternoon and evening numbers, it will still have a chance to record the highest opening day of the year. Although the morning occupancy is not the best of 2019 due to Holi, it will be a different story by the end of they day.

Directed by Anurag Singh and co-produced by Karan Johar, Kesari is based on the historic battle fought between 21 Sikh soldiers of the British India Army and 10,000 Afghan tribal warriors at the Saragarhi Fort on September 12, 1897.

Meanwhile, the box-office occupancy report of Vasan Bala's Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, starring Abhimanyu Dassani, Radhika Madan, is expected to be out soon.
